Prioritizing Your Health As A Woman
Today, as I walked out of the ER, I had a moment that stopped me in my tracks. It wasn’t just about the hours I spent under bright hospital lights or the tests that made me reflect on my body. It was the realization that NO DAY IS PROMISED. We say it often, but sometimes it takes a real-life wake-up call to feel the weight of those words.
As women, we often pour into everyone else—our families, our careers, our communities—leaving our own health for “later.”
We brush off the headaches, push through the fatigue, and convince ourselves that slowing down means falling behind. I was guilty of that, too. But today was a reminder: our health is not something we can negotiate or postpone.
Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish. It’s sacred. Your body carries your dreams, your purpose, and the love you give to others. When you ignore it, you’re not just putting your well-being at risk—you’re limiting how fully you can show up in the world.
Ive been down since last Friday ,the symptoms started last Thursday ,but I was like “I will be ok”…..
I had plans, clients and things to do.
Walking out of that ER, I made a promise to myself: I will not ignore the signals anymore.
Here’s what I want every woman reading this to know:
Your health is not a luxury.
It’s the foundation for everything else you want to do in life.Pay attention to your body’s whispers before they become screams.
That ache, that fatigue, that shortness of breath—don’t brush it off.Put yourself on your to-do list.
We show up for everyone else; it’s time to show up for ourselves with the same commitment.Rest is not weakness.
Rest is what keeps us alive to fight, love, and dream another day.Today is the most valuable thing you have.
Tomorrow is not promised, so make choices today that honor the life you’ve been given.
Leaving the ER today changed something in me. I realized that I don’t want to wait for another scare to take my health seriously. I want to live well now—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. 2024 I had 3 scares and one was learning of a blood disease living inactive in my body; That I will carry around for the rest of my life. Honestly ,I went to the ER to make sure it had not gone active.
Thankfully all of my Vitals,EKG,Chest X-RAY,Blood Cell Counts and more were in the green.
Im here to say the party can wait, the get together can wait, the trip can wait…. None of these things matter if you are not here. I want to be here. Lets say it again,I WANT TO BE HERE.
I also desire to be more KIND than ever. One of the hospital cleaning crew came in to clean my room and she was talking about not knowing what people do ,but assuming they do nothing. Careers!
I was watching the care in human form ,walking around the hospital and I decided to be kind .
Thinking that another person’s position is useless or assuming they are not worthy is a very arrogant stance. Every person’s position is important ,especially in healthcare. Which makes me desire to honor more healthcare employees behind the chair.
For Now…… Baddie , care is non-negotiable
To every woman reading this: please don’t wait for a wake-up call like mine. Schedule the checkup. Drink the water. Say no when you need to rest. Eat the food that nourishes you. Move your body. Release the stress you’ve been holding on to.
You deserve more than survival. You deserve to feel whole, strong, and at peace.
No day is promised, but today is a gift. I’m choosing to honor that gift. I hope you do too.
Here are a few truths I’m carrying with me after today:
Listen to Your Body.
That pain, that discomfort, that fatigue—it’s your body speaking. Don’t silence it with excuses.Schedule the Appointments.
The annual checkups, the bloodwork, the screenings—don’t wait for an emergency to prioritize them. Prevention is power.Make Rest Non-Negotiable.
Hustle culture has taught us that sleep is optional. It’s not. Rest is a form of strength.Nourish Yourself—Mind, Body, and Spirit.
Eat foods that fuel you, move in ways that make you feel alive, and guard your mental and emotional space as much as your physical health.Remember: Life Is Precious.
We plan for tomorrow, but the truth is, today is the gift. Treat it as such.
Leaving the ER today wasn’t just about relief; it was a wake-up call. I’m sharing this because I know so many women silently push through the warning signs, thinking we have more time. But time is not guaranteed.
If you’re reading this, I hope you pause. I hope you call your doctor. I hope you give yourself permission to put you first. Your health is your wealth, your freedom, your foundation for everything else you want to build. Let good people LOVE YOU,TAKE CARE of YOU and STEP IN for YOU. YOU ARE HUMAN.
No day is promised, but today is yours. Cherish it. Take care of yourself—because you deserve to thrive, not just survive.
LOVE YOU REAL BAD, RELLY
